Indian
head massage is a system of healing practised in India for many
centuries and is a therapy working on the muscular tissues of the
neck, head, shoulders scalp and face to relax, release stress and
stimulate the body.
Treatment is carried out with the client either sitting fully clothed,
or if used as part of a full Thai massage, in a lying position and
usually lasts from thirty to forty five minutes. The therapist will
use deep kneading of the neck and shoulder muscles with the head
worked on and the scalp being squeezed and rubbed with the hair
being gently pulled, tussled and combed. Finally the therapist will
stimulate and work on the acupressure points in the face to help
relieve sinus pressure and gently pull and massage the ears.
Stress in our daily life often builds up and causes tension, fatigue,
insomnia, headaches and irritability. Indian head massage will mobilize
the tissues and therefore increase flexibility of the neck and shoulders,
improving blood flow and eliminate muscular knots and accumulated
toxins and waste products.
The sense of peace, calm and deep relaxation will follow treatment
and once the massage has been completed, the client should relax
and rest for at least fifteen minutes.
